Distance Mentoring (intermediate and advanced students only) 1. Choose what you'd like to develop: General Painting Techniques or Developing Your Creative Vision. 2. Choose your subject matter: Landscapes or Wildlife 3. Choose your time period: 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months (all prepaid) 4. Choose the type of mentorship: standard or intensive. 5. Choose your Media: All painting media welcome, although I myself work in oils. 6. Tell me your level: Intermediate or Advanced student, or show me a selection of your work. How does this work? Standard: Each month you will receive 2 lessons via email, geared toward your area of focus. These lessons give you techniques for improving your paintings - techniques not often taught in art school! Some things we'll explore include drawing a viewer's eye into your painting, keeping the viewer in your painting, the expert use of edges, focal areas, and much, much more. My aim with this mentorship is to strengthen your abilities as a painter. I don't hold anything back, and I give honest (but compassionate and fair) critiques meant to help you improve your abilities as a painter. You will also receive 2 painting assignments and suggested additional lessons for further development. You can work on these optional/additional lessons during your mentorship or you may save them for later, however, the painting assignments should be done before your next lesson is delivered. You will also receive two, 45-minute phone/Skype consultations per month where we can go over your lessons and assignments, critique paintings, and discuss any questions you may have. What is the cost?
In-Person Mentoring (intermediate and advanced students only) Same as above, but instead of phone consults, we'll get together in-person for critiques or to answer your questions. Obviously this is only available to students living in the area of Portland, Maine. I am available to travel to other locations, but I will charge travel expenses on top of the per-month cost of the program.
